It seems like us Melbournians just can’t escape from the old black and white. Do you know what? I just can’t leave it behind. There’s just so much of me that craves a sleek, all black and white outfit and I don’t think it has anything to do with the location I live in. I guess we may have a little predisposition to black and we are constantly surrounded by the elite in their stunning all black attire, but there’s something about it that is so mysterious. I love what black speaks. Everyone thinks that colours are what speaks and that yellow is for happiness, and green is for envy.
For myself, black just speaks something completely different and I love the way it makes me feel. I think it’s always a little bit different for everyone and some say mystery, some day edge and some say class. For me, it’s all of those. I love how every day is a mystery with black and you wouldn’t have a clue what someone is trying to speak but holy moly, don’t you want to figure it out?
Here, I’ve mixed textures of suede, leather and neoprene to tie it all together and I absolutely love this look! I used a few oldies that have been in my wardrobe for ages because they are simply stunning and make such a statement. I picked up this skirt from Witchery a while ago now and love how flattering the asymmetric hemline is for the body. Also, I still can’t get over how hot these shoes are by Skin Shoes! Expect to see these just a little bit more over the next few weeks because they are S T U N N I N G!
“Black is not sad.
Bright colours are what depresses me.
They’re so… empty.
Black is poetic.
How do you imagine a poet?
In a bright yellow jacket?
Probably not.”
– Ann Demeulemeester
